Grin Kids has Successful Weekend on the Green
Charlotte-based nonprofit raises more than $140,000 during charity weekend
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Ace & TJ’s Grin Kids raised $140,865 during its 13th Annual Charity Weekend fundraiser that took place July 30 – August 1, with this year’s grand total exceeding last year’s by more than $48,000. All proceeds raised during the annual charity weekend were donated to Ace & TJ’s Grin Kids, a Charlotte-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that sends terminally ill and chronically disabled children and their families to Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL.
Grin Kids’ Charity Weekend started with an auction that featured prizes such as a custom golf cart by Paradise Golf Carts, use of a luxurious vacation home in Sanibel, FL provided by Galway Hooker, a Charleston getaway and much more. The weekend culminated with a golf tournament at the NorthStone Country Club in Huntersville.
Due in part to the money raised at the event, 40 families with children who have terminal illnesses and chronic disabilities will enjoy an all-expenses-paid, five-day Disney vacation this September. The selected families come from the Charlotte area and various markets throughout the country where The Ace & TJ Show is syndicated.
“We are truly grateful to everyone who helped make Grin Kids’ 13th Annual Charity Weekend a success,” said Ace, co-founder of Ace & TJ’s Grin Kids and co-host of Channel 96.1’s The Ace & TJ Show in Charlotte. “Because of everyone’s support, not only were we able to meet last year’s total, but we were able to beat last year’s total.”
Last year’s charity weekend raised $92,000 and all funds went to providing a dream vacation to the Grin Kids families. However, thanks to the generosity of the Charlotte community and event sponsors, Grin Kids saw an increase of 35 percent in the amount raised for the 2016 trip.
“It was a pleasure to be a part of Ace & TJ’s Grin Kids’ Annual Charity Weekend,” said Blaine Jackson, CEO of New Dominion Bank, a Grin Kids Charity Weekend sponsor. “It’s an honor to be able to help them provide so many families with memories that will last them a lifetime.”
